times like these...

music: trees rustling in the wind and cars driving by quietly

there are moments in life where everything jsut seems to make sense. I'm not too sure why these moments make themselves known or how they do it... But for a brief moment or two everything sorta comes into perspective. Life seems to slow down and you can really see the beauty in it. And it seems that no matter the pressures that are mounting around you everything will turn out okay. The day seems brighter... colors more vivid... and the air smells more fresh. It's a relaxing feeling. It's good. It's times like these I wish Fernanda were here. I could show her the things I see... But with our hectic schedules we have to plan everything ahead of time. Ah well. Eventually right?
It is a beautiful day though...

One month as of today!

music: air conditioning above me

Well, Fernanda and I have been married one month and all is going great! We've also got our honeymoon planned out. We're spending twelve days in the Yucatan Peninsula... Seven nights at the Grand Mayan Hotel on the Riviera Maya and then five more nights at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach in Cancun.  The hotel stays are Fernanda's Uncle's wedding gift to us...so we just have to get there.  I think that the honeymoon is going to be one heck of an experience.  We are certainly going to have a blast...I'm definitely excited.
Er...the lab here on campus is closing...over and out.

Survived the storm...

Well, I'm one license plate short; nevertheless, we survived hurricane dolly. It wasn't too bad I think...Of course, Kevin's fence fell...and one of my dad's did too...and there was massive flooding throughout the valley....and most of the northern valley still doesn't have power...besides all of that it wasn't too bad.
In other news, my bank account was just charged roughly $400...so that should mean that my iPhone is being shipped...finally.

Well, its official...I'm married. Fernanda and I tied the knot on saturday in a civil ceremony at her house. Immediate family was there for the small but fun shindig. She and I had a blast...and now we're half-way...er... two-thirds the way through... First was the engagement, next was the civil ceremony to take care of the legal stuff, and in December we "a-seal a-the deal" (read that in Strong Bad fashion). We just want to make sure that when we tie the knot again in december she's good to go as far as traveling, working, and all that legal mumbo-jumbo. So as far as any god or, more importantly, her mother is concerned, we aren't quite married. But hey, its cool...I'm happy. She's made me happier than I ever thought possible...I know what it really means to love someone and be loved back...she's awesome...and hey, she loves me for who I am...me!
Life is good.

Whoever invented the walkie-talkie feature of cell phones should be rounded up and shot by a firing squad of robots set to fire every time someone somewhere beeps a damn walkie-talkie phone....people need to learn how to properly talk on a cell phone...for some reason people assume everyone within 2 miles wants to hear the conversation. I'm outta here.

wonderful evening

May. 15th, 2008 | 10:48 pm
location: my room
mood: cheerful cheerful
music: "Hotel California" by the Eagles

Fernanda and I had a rather good date tonight...we went to the movies and checked out George A. Ramero's "Diary of the Dead"....which I must say was damn good. I went in thinking it would be awful...after the "Land of the Dead" fiasco....but this movie was put together very well. We had a great time...
Its good that things are back to normal these days... The recently finished semester was a doozy for both of us... I was working two jobs seven days a week and cramming in fifteen hours of college for the semester while Fernanda was carrying on her shoulders one job and a whopping eighteen college hours. We were stretched to the limit but somehow managed to survive...Fernanda and I are both still working...but the overload of school is on hold...for a bit. Fernanda has Summer II courses in July....then August brings with it another fully loaded semester. Baah...
As for now though, I'm off to bed. G'night.

done with finals

May. 5th, 2008 | 06:46 pm
location: University of Texas at Brownsville
mood: uneasy uneasy
music: "I want to protect you" by the EELS

Well...I just finished my last final a few minutes ago....and it wasn't quite what I had expected. I imagined it would go better than that. My professor managed to get into my head and basically freak me out about it.... I've never freaked out in regards to a test. No matter how well or not so well I see myself doing or how hard or easy it is projected to be I never freak out...somehow my professor managed to do just that in the five minutes prior to the test. My brain meats froze over and accumulated enough freezer burn to blank me out for the remainder of the exam. I don't feel well about this one.
I didn't fair so well in my other courses as well. I managed a C in macroeconomics and somehow lost an A in my world history Senior Seminar...I thought I'd do better in the history one and I swear I failed the economics one...ah well. My other courses should end up in the A range so I'm not too worried...
I am worried about my graduation though.... I might have to extend my graduation date to next december (2009)....as opposed to next may (2009) because of one damn course. Its my American History Senior Seminar so taking it as an independent study in spring '09 is a long shot. I guess we'll see.
Fernanda has been so stressed out because of her courses and other life events...I just hope that she feels better once her last final is done with...which just so happens to be in an hour. I'm really worried about her... Either way, her hard work has paid off with four A's so far and possibly a couple more on the way...she had an eighteen hour semester....I only mustered fifteen and I didn't fair that well. She's strong I tell's ya what. That's one of the reasons that I love her so much....

Creating a God

Mar. 26th, 2008 | 12:13 am
location: I guess one would call this the dining room
mood: busy busy
music: breaking benjamin

That's the title of my paper/presentation over Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, a man later known as Joseph Stalin. The projects main focus is how Stalin was able to rise to power and create a cult image of himself through the manipulation and suppression of arts, media, and other forms of communication, all the while hiding the fact that he was a murderous tyrant responsible for the deaths of three million people and the imprisonment of over ten million. Its fun to work on....but once again, I procrastinated until the last minute and I am forced (by my own actions) to pull an all nighter to pump this paper out...the presentation will come later.
Wish me luck.

house sitting and paper writing

Mar. 24th, 2008 | 12:06 pm
mood: bored bored
music: can't quite decide

In my attempt to be productive I have found every excuse not to be...I'm hardly gaining ground on this monster of a paper...ugh. Darn you Stalin.
Fernanda is busy all day and I can't very well see her as a result...and that makes me quite sad.
Oh, and in good news the Geek Squad was able to save the contents of my hard drive....for an ungodly amount of money....it wasn't until afterwards that the dell people told me an extremely easy and much cheaper method of DIY hard drive salvage...jerks. My lappy is running much smoother than before as well....I just have to reinstall all of my programs and what not.
Well, back to the paper business.

$200 potentially down the drain

So I took my laptop to the Geek Squad and for a hundred bucks they will attempt to retrieve my files....for another hundred I bought an external hard drive....in the event that they cannot salvage my hard drive I get a grand total of $50 back...yeah.
Oh, and my car is acting weird...more than usual.
Oh, and I owe roughly $600-$800 dollars on my income tax.
damn.

music: none...its all gone

In other words...I'm ducked...with an "f" rather than a "d"...
My laptop just died...literally died...memory integrity error here and some missing or corrupt files there....basically everything I have on my computer is gone....pictures of Fer and I, photoshop creations, art, music (16 GB+), college files, research papers, family pictures, programs...everything...gone.
The Dell guy said that I should take it to a technician in the morning to see if they can salvage the files...but either way, Dell will have to replace parts and wipe the drive...luckily its still under warranty...but irreplaceable files are lost...
This really sucks...
I should have bought a mac.
